Morphology and Structure

unicellular green microalga Chlorella vulgaris SP BB-2; cells spherical, small, green; characterized by a high degree of wastewater treatment, productivity, and significant content of valuable compounds in biomass

Cultivation

  • Culture medium: Tamiya mineral medium (liquid and agarized)
  • Temperature: 24–28 °C
  • Light intensity: 50–100 µmol photons/m²/s
  • Light regime: 16:8 h (light/dark)
  • pH of the medium: 6.5

Physiological Characteristics

mesophilic, autotrophic, and neutrophilic; capable of active growth in wastewater contaminated with mineral and organic compounds; exhibits a high capacity for nutrient removal and reduction of organic pollutants from wastewater.

Long-term Preservation Conditions

Stored on liquid and 1.5–2.0 % agarized Tamiya mineral medium. Storage temperature 10–12 °C, light intensity 10–20 µmol photons/m²/s, photoperiod 12:12 h (light/dark). Subculturing is carried out as needed, but at least once every 2–4 months.

Deposition Information

certificate of deposit of a microorganism No. 09/12-310; deposited in 2016 in the Republican Collection of Microorganisms of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Collection number assigned by the collection — RKM 0713

Field of Application

biotechnology, environmental protection; production of biomass as biologically active additives and treatment of wastewater from organic and mineral pollutants; obtainment of a microalgal strain capable of active growth in wastewater contaminated with mineral and organic impurities
